Yuya’s 2001 Mazda Miata
I’ve been in a Miata craze lately. No joke. Been having dreams and nightmares about it for the past three-ish weeks or so.
It might sound silly to people, but it has been living rent free in my mind… the thought of getting another one.
I’ve said before and I still believe to date that my Miata is/was the best car that I’ve owned overall and I still had admirations for them whenever I saw them online. One of them was last featured Chi’s NB1.
Cue in Yuya’s NB2.
While I don’t really remember exactly when I came across it, I do remember it being some time after I had sold mines. It reminded me so much of my own. I was extremely fortunate to be able to see it in person, and honestly, I feel like it exceeds where mines was.
In a very recent chat I had with him, I shared the pic above with him that mines was a 2001 just like his. Funnily, he shared a pic he saved. It was my Miata in a previous form and that he referenced that miata the most.
I am so honored to say the least! Pretty cool feeling to be able to inspire other people.
Anyway, this feature is a tad different in that I didn’t actually meet up with Yuya for a shoot, but I ended up seeing the car at the Wekfest show and spent quite a bit of time ogling at it. Thought I could put it together for a somewhat mini-feature.
So with Yuya’s permission here is the beauty herself.
From the outside we have a very clean looking NB2 as a base.
I don’t know the specs for sure but I believe this sits on TE37V 15x8j +0 165/55R17
I’m certain these are a set of MSM headlights. They have a “smoked” look vs the stock “clears”. They’re like the CTR headlights from a 96-00 civic.
NB2 OEM front lip.
No idea where this vented hood comes from, but it definitely adds some personality.
The diffuser fits this car nicely. Not too obnoxious. Exhaust matches up as well.
For the interior, looks very much set up for a driver.
Two Bride seats as well as a cage!

I stand by my word that Yuya’s maiata very much emulates where my miata was at. It also is a look into what I would greatly consider doing to mines had I kept it around. We inspire each other – a great thing that happens in our car community, even though we’re countries apart.
It was an honor to be able to see this and to feature it here. I hope that one day I’ll be able to give this a real feature when I return to Japan.
Yoroshiku Yuya! Arigatogozamasu!
