Yuta’s 2006 Mitsubishi Evolution IX
Ten months later, from when we’ve originally got to see this beauty in person, is this Evo 9.
I discovered this Evo on IG by chance through the explore page and it immediately got my attention. Admittedly, I wasn’t much of a fan of the Evolutions in general… nothing against them at all, they just didn’t captivate me personally.
This one though did.
The pic that I saw of it, was of it drifting at some event somewhere in Japan.
Yes, this is converted to RWD – confirmed by Yuta himself. My understanding is that converting to RWD isn’t that simple.
This discovery was just a few weeks before our trip to Japan for Wekfest 2024. At the event I absentmindedly walked next to this car and got chicken-skin.
This was that RWD Evo!
I’m not that knowledgeable about this chassis, but I’m certain that there’s widened front fenders and rear quarter panels in order to fit the timed and true Enkei RPF1. I really couldn’t get over the wheel fitment of this. It’s like it should have come this way from the factory.
So simple, so clean, and so used like the car that it is.
He also runs it like this in DoriDore. Check out the spares in his rear seat area. Also the interior is prepped like a jet for battle.
I am hoping to be able to meet the people behind these machines. Hopeful to make that a reality one day!
