Wes’s 2001 Honda S2000

Published by Lan on

Happy Freaking New Year RiceFam! Hope you were able to spend time with family and friends this holiday season and end of 2024.

Now that we’re in 2025, we will start it off with this beast of a machine. And I really mean it when I say beast.

I met Wes through autoxing. It was hard not to notice this bright yellow S2000 at the events with all of the exterior mods on it. I had to go tell him how cool I thought his car was, and such a humble guy too.

The story goes – if I remember this correctly – is that Wes purchased this Honda sort of by chance. A lady who owned the car (and rarely drove it) needed to sell it as she was expecting a baby. Needing to get rid of an EVO he had (no hate to EVOs at all, I’m just a Honda-head-at-heart) in order to fund the car and all the goodies on it, Wes went all in and affirmed, “every part of the car has been addressed and touched.”

I’ve always been superficial first with it comes to cars. How it looks matters the most to me at this point in my life. Just look at it. It looks like its meant to be driven moreso at some high performance event.

The outside screams Spoon! The front bumper, fenders, hardtop all Spoon, all authentic, and all bought and shipped from Japan.

The Voltex wing and diffuser balance out the decked front end with splitters.

The car sits on the authentic Spoon SW388s in a comfy 17×9.5 +60 S2K spec on some beefy 255/40 RE71RS Potenzas.

At the final Hawaii SCCA event Wes was kind enough to let me take it out for a spin for two runs. The first one scared the sh!t out of me.

I forgot that it was supercharged from Science of speed. The second time I forget what time I got exactly, but I got into the time range I didn’t think I could touch.

Thankfully my brother sat in the passenger seat to capture the run. He sounded like he was trying to stable himself and take video and the same time.

Speaking of driving it, sitting in the cockpit itself was an experience. All the OEM comforts but with a race feel to it.

The AP1 seats were reupholstered with Bride fabric, the short shifter from Renegade, Greddy steering wheel, and the titanium pedals was all I needed to just feel like a boss.

“Street Lookin Mode”

“SCCA Mode”

It was really such an honor to be able to shoot and drive this thing in this kind of environment. Dare I say that the car is limited at a place at autox… I really feel like it’s potential lies on something way more track oriented.

I wanna thank Wes again for the opportunity!

See you all next time!!!
