Wekfest Japan 2024 | Part 1

Published by Lan on

Konnichiwa RiceFam and welcome back!

We’re pretty excited to bring this feature. This is our first international car show and if it were the only or last one to go to, we’d be more than fulfilled.

Some small notes worth mentioning:

  • Wekfest Japan is on a whole other level. Not even joking.
  • Hands down, this is the best show I’ve attended ever. It is nothing short of EXCELLENCE.
  • With car shows in the states, if there’s a shot I really want to take, I’ll usually stand in a spot and it’ll eventually be clear enough of people to get a shot in. This method didn’t work at this show. There is always going to be someone in the way.
  • I think I spent too much time waiting which added up quickly in taking time away from the rest of the show… Next time I cannot be too greedy.
  • I did not get as much as I would have liked in the hall.
  • You know how you see/follow people/builds on social media and you’re just in awe? Seeing these builds in person made me star-struck.

Enough of the fan-boying… for now.

For part one, these are just some of the people that I was able to admire only on Instagram. I’m still feeling the effects of having the opportunity to see these in person. Cheers to all of you that inspire the rest of the car community from TYO, HNL, and beyond.

Please let me know if I make a mistake in crediting these. I am still new to getting acquainted with the Japan community.

Enjoy!

Right off the bat I want to recognize this FD2 by @u_dai_fd2 This right here is the inspiration for my FA5. Everything about it is perfect in my opinion!

This EJ chassis by @___r_y_o___ I’ve noticed that there were lots of 90’s era Hondas that keep to the B/D series instead of the renowned K. This one is no exception.

I never give 7th gen Civics much look but this one by @7thgen_es3 is def a looker.

Been having a thing for BMWs lately. A convertible version up top by @39mach and a coupe version below by @69_yuuki

Very very nicely executed Honda Beat by @81yard

I love how simple and clean this Mark IV Supra by @104gram_elevate is. Slammed and on a great set of wheels.

This 86 by @0310power took home 86/Corolla of the Festival. Well desrved!

When I first starting finding cars from Japan, this R33 by @bcnr33_lm_stance was one of the first ones I admired. For some reason it gets the least amount of love amongst the R32, R33, R34. I don’t discriminate.

This EK by @buddyclubogata has been popping up on my feed right before the trip. I am glad it did!

Another R33 by @daisuke.m202 that I found early on in finding cars from Japan. I got a thing for white wheels on white cars

This 8th gen by @daxcruz1876 was the first familiar 8th gen in the show.

This Evo by @happyturn_evo9 was a recent discovery of mine. I am not usually a fan of Lancers, but damn this is hard to go unnoticed. He slides this too!

Clean and simple FK8 by @hide_fk8

@joe__san RX7 captivates me so much. Its gotta be the white.

This red NB also brought me back to my old NB. It was similarly built but @kamachi_nb8c does it way better!

I know a few people that follow this 86 by @kazuaki_staddict_c_c. Cannot go wrong with Meisters!

This generation of Z’s have been catching my attention more and more. If I’m not mistaken this one by @kbibibibibibibibibibi is also drifted.

This NA by @kikuyuu0921 went to a more aggressive stance for the show.

I am not in love with the NSX, but this one by @nameta_low made me really want one of my own!

@phaze2_mao Z on CCWs

There’s something special about this RX7 by @pink7essence.

I never much cared for the Lexus SC model, but the clean and simple setup of this one by @pojihame510 made me care!

Even things that are pretty much OEM are crafted so well. This 180sx by @ritsu.180sx would stand out on the streets in the states.

I know “non car people” who would love this Civic by @ryo__391 just because there’s Stussy all over it.

When I think of an S14 in Japan, @s14_bnr34 one is the automatic one that comes to mind. This show quality beast is also drifted hard.

This E46 by @sheffy_go_hawaii catches my eye once again for its clean simplicity.

I actually once thought about throwing red wheels on a car. Granted I didn’t have an R32 like @shoyanrr but it does look good!

I had to double take on @ssss.ke_sesr Siliva… are those Porsche wheels? Whoa.

The concept going for @takeyan_rx72 was “beautiful and quiet.” So nicely done. I only noticed the shaved door handles now…

This RX7 by @takka_rx7 is so effing bad ass.

Really loving this gray color on @tkm15__ S15

The R34 from @trust.greddy at their booth.

@tuketan_l2p Mugen inspired DC2. I love the color combo of yellow, chrome and blue.

I am a sucker for white and bronze TE37s. This S15 by @venvenryo showcases it nicely!

@wildknight7 kitted and modified RX7

Yet another car I came across early on when finding cars in Japan by @yoshi.fd3s. If I was Keisuke, I’d make my yellow RX7 like this.

This FG2 by @yu_ki_nvusjp is USDM inspired and also left hand drive

@yukeeei_ STi. Again another car that I followed early on in my hunt for cool cars from Japan.

This R34 by @zh13vo is what I would do. It’s actually a GTT made to look like an GTR. RWD is just too fun to skip out on.

This is just a part of what I was able to capture from the show. There will be more coming! See you next week RiceFam!
