SCCA Hawaii 2024 – Race 4

Published by Lan on

Been a while since I’ve posted something autox related… I believe I was in the process of posting the final race of some previous season but never got round to it.

I’ll save the story of SCCA and my journey throughout it for another day – though I think I owe the followers quite a few at this point – but this is what got me to appreciate cars exponentially more than I already had. It was fun to be able to drive the car that I had built.

I feel like autox people fit into the spectrum of these two categories: 1) design and build the car to max out its mods within its class or 2) design and build it however the hell you want and just drive the thing. I personally have always fit into the latter of the two.

This post give snapshots of what the stage / grid / track area might look like prior to actual runs happening. It’s actually a mini car show of different makes, models, and modifications. However, don’t know if this happened to be circumstantial, but I did notice quite a bit of FRS/BRZ in the mix. Last I heard – prior to the “new” generation that came out – they had some sort of restriction of not being a “true” disable of things like ABS and traction control. Hopefully someone can educate me in that one day.

Finally took the chariot out to play. Yes the car is on bags and while I still believe that coilovers have the slight advantage of being “better” for “track” purposes, if I didn’t say it was on bags, I think no one would be able to tell.

Not something you see everyday… but the blow off is my favorite sound

@86_yota Truenu in the pit area

The infamous Devil Z.

Gabe’s BRZ. He had a blob-eye (I think that’s what it’s called) STi once upon a time that was maxed out for STU class. That car was fun as hell.

The Rookies taking a guided course walk. Available to anyone that wants to do it though.

This S was prolly my fav of the day. Anyone know the owner?

Ended up running into the man @guava_stash with some of his friends. Love seeing more people coming out to these!

Wavin and on the way into tech inspection.

Staging into the grid area…

…and some cars in the grid area.

EVs are the up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A of autox.

Felipe’s Type R

With that, we leave you at the starting line as we lead into part 2, where all the action awaits. Keep Driving!!!
