SCCA Hawaii Race 6 | “Dual Drive” | 2019-2020

Brother is back from his vaycay and was willing to let me drive his S2K again this race. I’ve been hooked ever since last race.

I put together a vid on my IG showing what a typical day of autox looks like if anyone is interested.

There were options again for taking the course. I ended up opting for the straight line breaking routes. It was another relatively long course, which I didn’t mind having – there were slaloms going up and down the turn-arounds ending with a very fast finish.

The word of they day is: humbling. I pulled off a satisfying time of 48.6xx during my second run which I was stoked about, but I it ended up being a dirty run with one cone. I wanted to make up for it in the third feeling pretty confident.

Maybe too confident?

The word of the day is: humbling

I ended up spinning the car in the finish during my third run – a combination of going into the finish a little too tight, too fast, with a touch of snap oversteer. I slapped some pointer cones and got a little too close for comfort to the barrels.

The spin

It may not have looked like much in the vid, but I was pretty shaken up from the spin even till much after the event. I haven’t spun like that in years and my confidence a little wavered. Though I feel a little setback, I do see it as a learning experience. I was lucky that I didn’t damage anything. I would’ve felt worse had I be the cause of damage to my brother’s car.
