SCCA Hawaii 2024 – Finale
December 15th 2024 was a bittersweet day.
Sweet because it was another day of autoxing, something that I had grown to love over the years. It was a day for fun runs, which means more seat time, allowed a single passenger, and with consent able to drive other people’s builds. It meant a full day of camaraderie, with lunch and a quasi banquet in the evening time.
Bitter because this would officially be the last day for a venue that would allow us to have a motorsport event for an unforeseen amount of time.
The Aloha Stadium will be demolished and rebuilt, and the swap meet that circles the stadium will move to the open parking lot where our events take place. Further – as far as we understand it – the “new” stadium will not have a parking lot large and open much like it is now…
As for the event itself, it was nothing short but that of fun runs as I mentioned. I think everyone got a total of 9 or 10 runs or so… so many, that I actually felt exhausted from driving so much.
I got to ride along with Jon in his Corolla wagon, Roel in his NB Miata – who had bested a bunch of S2000s in like his second run, Ryota in his R32, and a few times with my brother in his car.
Speaking of, this weekend was filled with some mishaps – unrelated to the event itself. I’ll save the details, but it boils down to:
- A trip to local part store
- A dead battery that needed to be recharged
- An alternator that failed 2 out of 5 times – which means its “good”
- Intermitted starting problems
- Running out of gas
Just one of them days. Thanks to Mr. Parker for the gasoline save!
For the final run in the Civic, I finally installed the Recaro, and the tires were beyond done. Full review later on, and another surprise to be revealed eventually.
For the course itself, it was pretty fun! Faster than I thought it would it be but only managed to get a 32.5xx out of the Civic. I’m ok with that considering that the civic is really underprepped… and that there were still a few more things I wanted to do to it…
With so much happening and emotions all over the place, I did what I could to capture as much as I did with the camera…
Course walk.
Dan, Jon, and Yota at the drivers meeting
Father – Son duo
Arvin – who I associate with his FWD car usually – brought out some RWD.
Great times and all smiles!!
Couple of action shots.
And here is a final run, in the most make-shift spot from the headrest, from the civic.
Till next time RiceFam… and I’ve said it once and a thousand times and will say it an infinite more…
Keep FK’N Driving!
