Trip to Akihabara UDX… again
Ah the city of Akihabara.
Those who’ve been there can attest that it is the city that defines “otaku.” I call it “anime central.”
In the heart of the area is a place called Akihabara UDX, which is actually a parking lot. Make your way down to floor B2F on any given day and you’ll likely see some type of car there that will catch your eye. Fair warning though: there are signs in the parking lot that prohibit loitering… its not really a place meant for lounging around.
I’ve been there every trip to take a peek at whats there, and this is another one of those days that I happen to drop by.
I wouldn’t call it a “meet” but there was some commotion going on during this particular evening. Probably just some groups of people arriving and/or leaving. Further, I didn’t feel so conspicuous as there were a fair few other people wandering around looking at cars too.
A 180sx, R34, and R35 leaving the area.
While cars come and go through Akihabara, the “itasha” style of car is the most prominent.
This S15 I saw in a parking lot at Wekfest Japan… I think. If so, it drove pretty far…
“Respect the elders.”
This was prolly my second/third favorite of the night.
This was my favorite. Stay tuned for more later.
There was a group that had cars inspired by Fast and Furious franchise.
Not my cup of tea personally, but the owner of this EJ1 definitely had a lot of pride in his ride. He was real enthusiastic about it. I definitely respect that.
Not much of an itasha fan myself, but they just go with S-chassis to me for some reason. Lawl
Not to far from UDX is a side road that sometimes stages some cool stuff. Look up “Radio Kaikon Akihabara” It’s the road that shop is on (and also a place I recommend you check out for you weebheads)
I spent like 10 minutes thinking “damn this car looks familiar…” only to realize it was Albo’s newly acquired FD2. I was a little starstruck and wanted to say hi, but he was engaged in convo with someone and I had to leave to catch a train.
This MR2 was hard as hell.
I wish I spoke japanese to tell these guys how cool their cars are and how I’m so inspired.
Thanks for joining us again for another week! See you next time RiceFam!
